The most wonderful time of year is here again! We know, holiday decorating is fun but also requires work. However, we believe it doesn’t have to be a chore and can be done by simply arranging the right items. Here are some tips and tricks to help you enliven your home’s holiday aesthetic.
If you’ve ever been overwhelmed with the amount of time, effort and money that it takes to redecorate a home, don’t worry because you are not alone. Perfecting your home’s style will take some time, but that’s part of the fun. Instead of transforming your entire home all at once, take my advice and wait it out. Each year, purchase two jaw-dropping décor items that you absolutely cannot live without. Your collection will blossom overtime and within ten years, you will have a collection of 20 stunning décor items.

How will this ‘two-item rule’ benefit you? First of all, you are not going to drop a ton of money in a single day because you’re limiting yourself. If you’re not familiar with the price of good-quality home décor, head over to Pier 1 and look around. It is not uncommon to spend $100+ on one chic item…trust me, I know. It’s also beneficial to you because your style develops overtime. If you refurbished your living room with all zebra print décor (please don’t), and then a couple years later start to despise zebra print, you’ve then wasted a ton of time and money. When you practice the ‘two-item rule’, you become more cautious of your selections and leave room for yourself to grow.

A contemporary home is constantly evolving. As summer comes to an end, it’s time to start thinking about how you want to switch things up in your home. Whether it is simply adding new accent pillows to the couch or redesigning the entire kitchen, refreshing your environment at home can have positive psychological effects. According to the Pantone Fashion Color Report, this fall is all about sanguinity, strength, and serenity.
Instead of your typical fall colors like tangerine and maroon, this fall is led by the Blue family. When decorating your home for the season, don’t be afraid to combine playfulness with structure. This fall’s color palette will allow you to bring earth tones and vivacious pops of color together under one roof. Inspired by the peacefulness and optimism that this color palette generates, we created a room-by-room home décor guide just for you.
In the office – Riverside
Riverside is this fall’s top color and we can see why. This sophisticated shade of blue is cool and calming, yet strong and stable, which makes it the perfect color to surround you while you are working.
One of the things people love about globes is their old-school vibe. They remind us of a golden era where people went on expeditions to gain knowledge and map out the land. While MOVA Globes are more modern in design, they can certainly evoke a vintage feel with the right accessories and colors. We find that placing globes on a vintage suitcase or treasure box along with a small succulent perfectly captures this classical magic. Look for softer, elegant colors like those on the Cassini Terrestrial MOVA Globe to complement the accessories. To top off this vintage, travel-inspired look, we added a brown woven stand and a gold continent wall accent.
Pool days, lawn picnics, and plenty of sun – oh summer, we’ve missed you so. Although we generally bask in this blazing season outside, we think summer can be enjoyed just as much in your home. So we created a décor look book inspired by the feeling of summertime, featuring MOVA Creations. While MOVA Creations are not outdoor items, we think our globes can remind you of your fondest summer memories anywhere. Without further ado, here is our summer guide:
Incorporate Bright Pops of Color
Looking to reinvent your desk? You may want to consider the art of feng shui. Feng shui (pronounced fung shway) is the Chinese practice of adjusting your external surroundings to strengthen your internal well-being. Every item, from a book to a framed photo, emits an energy called “chi” and how we place these items can impact all aspects of our lives. Whether you’re setting into a new desk or feeling lost at your current one, read on to learn how you can master feng shui for your workspace.
First of all, you don’t need to be an expert or practice a particular creed to take on feng shui. Feng shui can be applied by everyone. It’s a state of mind that helps you pay attention to and play an active role in your surroundings. Since your desk is where you spend a lot of time making things happen, improving the energy of your space will help you in the long run.
Although the new Black Hills Termesphere MOVA Globe depicts a beautiful region in South Dakota, the design’s vibrant color palette of yellow, orange, green, and reminds us of a blazing summer day in the desert. With the summer heat setting in, we created this crisp look inspired by the Southwest. We placed the new globe on bright, white surfaces, which brings out the deep colors of Dick Termes’ artwork and allows it to command attention. Succulents, pottery and woven materials help set the Southwestern mood, while a variety of patterns brings this look together.
The new Irises MOVA Mini, which features a rich painting filled with irises and marigolds from artist Vincent Van Gogh, is summer in its essence. The artwork is saturated with a gradient of greens, from the warm, classic green reminiscent of days bathing in the sun to the darker, potent green of a midsummer night. The greens are painted with wondrous depth and detail. Accented with punches of gold and a swirl of bold blue, this palette perfectly captures the nostalgia of summer vacation.

MOVA Creations have the eye-catching ability of rotating on their own, but did you know that there are other ways to make your MOVA Creation stand out? In our new Decorating Tip blog series, we will share the tips and tricks we picked up from being around our globes so often (and not to mention, making them look nice for photos).
Spring is in full swing and we wanted to rejoice with a bright color palette for this month’s edition of Color Spotlight. So as always we turned to Pantone – a renowned authority on color and provider of color systems across various industries – for some spring inspiration. We gathered a few of our favorite colors and paired them alongside our equally colorful Butterfly MOVA Globe co-designed with artist Wendy Gold.
Yes, this palette is very, very colorful. However, we think spring is the perfect season to experiment with bright colors. From the Pantone Color Fashion Report, we selected five colors (depicted above left to right) closest to Fiesta, Flash Green, Sand, Buttercup and Limpet Shell. We suggest finding florals, plants, and pottery that match Fiesta and Flash Green to create a balance of high-energy and radiance. Pair Limpet Shell and Buttercup for accessories, patterns, and home accents to create crisp, eye-catching points of interest in your interiors. Use Sand as the surface – it’s a soft, subtle, and naturally earthy foundation for the other colors. We think this color palette is reminiscent of having an afternoon picnic is a flower field, wrapped in the warmth of a sunny day.

Spring is the season of renewal and revival. One of the best ways to invigorate your lifestyle is freshening up your home décor. Contrary to belief that spring décor is too colorful, floral-based and chaotic, we believe that decorating for the new season can be simple, minimal, and fresh while still allowing you to make a bold statement. Here for our 5 tips for adding springtime to your décor, featuring the MOVA Globe.
With daylight lingering around longer and spring creeping up around the corner, we have another invigorating color to share with you. Whereas seafoam from our last color spotlight evokes the feeling of going to the beach, snorkel blue (part of Pantone’s Spring 2016 Color Report) is a vivid, bouncy shade that reminds us of spring escapes and relaxing vacations. The Natural Earth MOVA Globe features Snorkel blue in shaded reliefs, adding a nautical feel and world-trotting spirit to any interior. The color is energetic yet still, and like its namesake, makes you want to take a dip in the water and venture into the deep blue. We recommend pairing it with a bright gold shade and coffee wood, along with other nautical trinkets to create a carefree space.
