It is amazing to think that through a masterful play of colors, shapes, and arrangements that an artist can turn a plain canvas into an immersive piece and stir our imagination and conversation. The unspoken impact of an artist’s work is what sparked our creation of the MOVArt line, a collection of one-of-a-kind custom globes made in collaboration with talented artists and creative makers. Because it’s American Artist Appreciation Month this month, we’d like to share with you how the MOVArt™ collection started, how we discover new artists, and why we strive to infuse their visionary artwork with our patented motion.
Whether they are advising visitors on sculptures and limited edition reproductions or working with customers to provide custom framing, Artifacts Gallery is a destination spot with a loyal clientele of art enthusiasts. The fine arts gallery is nestled in Cambria, California, a coastal community located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The towering pine trees, shimmering seas, and bustle of art and wine festivals of the area provide a vibrant community that Artifacts Gallery has served for the past 20 years. To celebrate American Artist Appreciation Month, owner Thad Markham and art consultant Trish Anselmo gave us a tour of the gallery and discussed their passion for art.
The Termesphere MOVA Globes have a special place in the MOVA collection. Dick Termes – the creative mind behind the Termesphere designs – is the first artist we collaborated with to expand the creative potential of our MOVA Creations. Inspired by the works of M.C. Escher and Buckminster Fuller, Dick develops striking multi-dimensional worlds that challenge the way we see our surroundings while taking us headfirst into another world. With an ambitious vision, diverse collection of artwork, and international acclaim to boot, there’s no question why we were drawn to the work of this compelling American Artist. Just in time for American Artist Appreciation Month, we sat down with Dick to talk about his inspirations, his thoughts on our collaboration, and his upcoming projects.
