With the Total Solar Eclipse occurring in a few days, we’re shedding some light on our Moon MOVA Globe. The moon is the Earth’s only natural satellite and is the largest satellite relative to the planet it orbits. Although the actual moon’s features won’t be seen during Totality – the stage where the moon completely blocks the sun and appears as a dark disk – here are some notable features of the Moon to look for on the MOVA Globe and tips for how to decorate the globe in your home.
5 Features of the Moon
1. Luna Maria: These are the dark regions scattered across the Moon. Maria is Latin for “seas” and are solidified lava flows from about 3.5 billion years ago. The lighter regions on the Moon are called the Lunar Highlands because of their higher altitude.
